This time I’m going to discuss Proper  Noun and Common Noun.

今回は固有名詞と普通名詞についてお話します。

 

What is the difference between Proper Noun and Common Noun?

固有名詞と普通名詞の違いは何でしょうか？

 

Proper Noun is a word that names specific person, place, thing and event.

固有名詞は特定の人物や場所、物、出来事の名前を表す単語です。

 

And it always begins with a capital letter.

そして必ず初めの文字は大文字で表されます。

 

For example : Philippines

例：Philippines（フィリピン）

 

It is a particular name of place, so it always begins with a capital letter.

これは特定の地名なので、大文字から始まります。

 

Let’s use it in a sentence : I live in the Philippines.

文章例：私はフィリピンに住んでいます。

 

And another example：Aya

その他の例：Aya(あや)

 

 

this is a specific name of person, so it always begins with a capital letter.

これは特定の人の名前なので、大文字から始まります。

 

Let’s make it in a sentence.

例文を作ってみましょう。

 

My friend’s name is Aya. 私の友達の名前は、あやです。 

 

What about Common Noun?

では普通名詞とは何でしょうか？

 

Common Noun is a word that names a person, place, thing and event that are not specific.

普通名詞とは特定されていない人物名や場所、物、出来事の名前を表す単語です。

 

Since these nouns are not specific, they don’t begin with a capital letter except when they are placed at the beginning of a sentence.

これらの名詞は特定されていないので、文章の先頭に配置されている場合を除き、大文字から始まることはありません。

 

For example : book – Teache .

例えば、本ー先生。

 

Let’s make it in a sentence.

例文を作ってみましょう。

 

The book is on the table.

book（本）―その本はテーブルの上にあります。

 

My teacher is kind.

私の先生はやさしいです。
