I am going to discus Demonstrative Pronouns.

今回は指示代名詞についてお話します。

 

Do you feel confused about This, These, That and Those?

ThisとThese、That、Thoseについて困惑しませんか？

 

Today let’s talk about these words.

今日はこれらについて話していきましよう。

 

These words are called Demonstrative Pronouns.

これらの単語は’Demonstrative Pronouns’（指示代名詞）と呼ばれます。

 

They are used to point out a specific place, person, thing or idea.

これらは、特定の人物や場所、物、概念を指すのに使われます。

 

This / These are used to point out person, place, things or concept near the speaker.

ThisとTheseは、話し手の近くにある（いる）人物や場所、物、概念を指すときに使われます。

 

This: if the subject is singular or only one.

This: 指し示す事象が単数形または一つだけのとき

 

These: if the subject is plural or more than one.

These：指し示す事象が複数形または2つ以上のとき

 

That / Those are used to point out person, place, things far from the speaker.

ThatとThoseは話し手から遠くにある（いる）人物や場所、物を指すときに使われます。

 

That: if the subject is singular or only one.

That：指し示す事象が単数形または一つだけのとき

 

Those: if the subject is plural or more than one.

Those：指し示す事象が複数形または2つ以上のとき

 

Let’s try these examples.

いくつか例でみてみましょう。

 

This is an apple.

これはりんご（１つ）です。

 

These are apples.

これらはりんご（２つ以上）

 

That is  Mt.Fuji.

あれは富士山（単数形）です。

 

Those are stars.

あれらは星（複数）です。

 

It’s easy to identify the demonstrative pronouns. Right?

指示代名詞を使い分けるのは簡単ですよね？
